Cannot delete old primary email

Karen

Firefox has an old email address that I cannot access. My current email is listed as my secondary contact. I am unable to get rid of the old email address and make my current email the primary.

Hi Karen,

You should be able to make your current secondary email address the primary one through your Mozilla account settings. You don't normally need access to the old email address just to change the primary address, provided you can still sign in to your account and verify the new one.

Go to https://accounts.firefox.com/settings and look for the email address settings. If your current address is already listed as secondary, look for the option to make it primary. You may need to verify that address first.

Once the new address is primary, you should be able to remove the old address if the account settings allow it.

Could you let us know what happens when you try to make your current address primary? For example, is the option missing, greyed out, or do you receive an error message?

You can find Mozilla's instructions here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/change-primary-email-address-firefox-accounts
