Is it possible that every single add-on I had has been simultaneously disabled because it is "corrupt" or the sign-on could not be verified? Is it due to my old operating system (El Capitan)? If that's the case, I will have to stop using Firefox on my old iMac and use it on my MacBook Air, a device I really don't like because of the keyboard.

No one knows why they stopped as no one has access to your computer. Should take to apple support for them to look at.

This is due to using a rather old version of Firefox as in 78.15.0esr which of course was that last current version to still support the old eol macOS 10.9, 10.10, 10.11.

The Extensions being disabled is due to https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/root-certificate-expiration as you need at minimum Firefox 128 or for macOS 10,.12, 10.13, 10.14 the minimum is Fx 115.13.0esr though it is currently at Fx 115.21.0esr.
