Accessing old database from a new Thunderbird install?

Looking for a workaround, have not gotten help on Thunderbird crashing on startup in OSX.

I could download and install a fresh copy in a test directory but it doesn't see accounts.
(In temporary test directory and not the Apps dir hoping
that would avoid it wiping out existing accounts in a fresh install)

Hoped I could manage to get the new install acquainted with the existing database.

If I could learn a bit more about the Thunderbird database organization on OSX...

Is the database globally accessible, regardless the app location?

I have been without one email address for a month now, seems I don't have the current password recorded on paper.

You still have not answered any of the questions you were asked. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1286827

So you are without support because you are not participating.

Profile information can be found in the knowledge base here https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-where-thunderbird-stores-user-data

Likewise how to get crash Ids is discussed in this article. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/mozilla-crash-reporter-tb#w_viewing-reports-outside-of-thunderbird

I suggest you go back and work with the QA manager over your crashes in the original topic.
