I have just installed Windows 10 Pro, Firefox, and Dashlane on my new laptop. Whenever I start up Firefox anew, Dashlane forces me to sign is again (despite that I selected the option to stay logged in for 14 days).

I suspect it has something to do with my Privacy and Security settings in Firefox. My preference is to delete all history, cookies, logins, cache etc when I close Firefox. BUT: I have tried remembering all those items, and Dashlane still doesn't remember being logged in. And I used to have the same restrictive Firefox settings on my old laptop with Windows 7, and Dashlane would auto-log me in. What do I need to do to get Dashlane to remember my credentials when I start up Firefox?

Thanks for your help!

Chosen solution

I solved the problem by uninstalling and reinstalling the Dashlane extension. Something must have gone wrong the first time around. Now I can remain logged into Dashlane even with the clear cookie/history/etc. settings in Firefox. Happy New Year everyone.

In case you use "Clear history when Firefox closes" or otherwise clear history.

  • do not clear the Cookies
  • do not clear the Site Preferences
  • clearing "Site Preferences" clears exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, and software installation and exception for password and other website specific data
  • clearing "Cookies" will remove all selected cookies including cookies with an allow exception you may want to keep

You can let the cookies expire when Firefox is closed (Delete cookies and site data when Firefox is closed) to make them session cookies instead of using "Clear history when Firefox closes" to clear the cookies. You can create a cookie allow exception to keep 'remember me' cookies for specific website.

Thank you for your reply, cor-el. Unfortunately, the changes did not solve my problem. Following your suggestions, the websites I'm trying to log into will remember the log-in credentials, but I am once again logged out of the Dashlane extension when I restart Firefox. I prefer to be logged into the Dashlane extension, but not for Firefox to remember the log-ins for the website. Do you have any other suggestions? Thanks again.
