Places Maintenance {web link} Allows to run Maintenance tasks on the database that drives Places, the bookmarks and history module behind Firefox.
Open the Add-ons Manager. Locate the add-on and press the Options button. Select All of the tests. Then press Execute on the bottom.
You may have corrupt sessionstore file(s).
Type about:support in the address bar and press enter.
Under the page logo on the left side you will see Application Basics. Under this find Profile Folder. To it’s right press the button Show Folder. This will open your file browser to the current Firefox profile. Now Close Firefox.
Locate the sessionstore file(s). Then rename or delete them. Restart Firefox.
I assume you have Firefox set to start up with your home page, instead of tabs from your previous session. You can double-check that on the Options page: Startup, home page, tabs, and download settings.
If Firefox ignores that setting, one possible reason is an optional settings file named user.js. If Firefox finds that file, it uses the settings in the file at startup to override your saved preferences from the previous session. For some reason, a command to restore previous session tabs often can be found in this file.
Unless you created a user.js file yourself, you may want to delete it. There is a section of the following support article on how to track it down: How to fix preferences that won't save.
If you find a file named user (of type JScript) but not user.js, Windows may be hiding file extensions from you. To work with files as accurately as possible, I suggest unhiding them. This Microsoft support article has the steps: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/wi.../show-hide-file-name-extensions.
You can check if you have a user.js file in the Firefox profile folder that sets the browser.sessionstore.resume_session_once pref to true.
You can check for problems with the sessionstore.js file in the Firefox profile folder that stores session data. When sessionstore.js is deleted you lose App Tabs and Tab Groups and open tabs and you will have to recreate them, so if necessary make a note or bookmark them.
You can use this button to go to the current Firefox profile folder:
- Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)
