I've deleted everything that I can find on my computer that has the word "yahoo" attached to it. I do still have a yahoo email account. I've researched this online(including firefox) for endless hours and have tried a couple dozen different solutions. Also, went up to about:config I've been through options and search options. I suspect yahoo was attached to something that I downloaded or with the firefox\google\yahoo update?? I know this happened to many people and none of the solutions that I've read have fixed this. My google search on the top works fine. If you can help me please go step-by-step and in terms/words that I can understand. Thank You!

Hi,

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information. Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.

To Reset Firefox do the following:

  1. Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
  2. Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
  3. Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
  4. Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

Further information can be found in the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article.

I seen that option about six hours ago and was afraid to use it. I sure am glad that you're brave....kidding. Thank You! Everything is back to where I started. All search bars are working and set to search using google only. My browser had been super slow since I was invaded by yahoo. Now I'm glad that I couldn't get rid of yahoo on my own as I'd guess it still would've been dragging? You've got things running fast and smooth. Thanks again, you're the best! Have a wonderful weekend!
