Font formatting for message Viewer
OK, I'm brand new to Thumderbird. I am coming from Apple's Mail.
For the life of me I cannot figure out how to change the font and font size of messages viewed.
All the controls for the font size, font and color seem to be for the reply message. Nothing I have found changes the received messages.
What am I missing?

Preferences/Display/Formatting/Fonts & Colors, Advanced, set the fonts and sizes with Fonts for: Latin and repeat with Fonts for: Other Writing Systems. Uncheck 'Allow messages to use other fonts'.

I was thrilled to find this question posed, but I cannot for the life of me find anything marked "preferences." The closest thing I can find is "options" and "customize," but neither has the subcategories Preferences is supposed to have. Where is this supposed to be located? Thanks!

The Preferences menu on OS X, the original poster's system, is Tools/Options on Windows. If you're on TB 78, click the 3-bar app menu in the upper right, Options, General, Language & Appearance, Fonts & Colors, Advanced. On TB 68, app menu, Options, Options, Display, Formatting, Fonts & Colors, Advanced, or Tools/Options/Display/Formatting/Fonts & Colors, Advanced.
