Since Tuesday 24th I am no longer able to upload photos to Twitter or Yahoo Groups.

I am using Firefox and Vista on my desktop PC and for no apparent reason suddenly became unable to upload photos to Twitter or Yahoo! Groups. Twitter error message is "Picture upload failed! Please try again later" and in the case of Yahoo! the photos just won't upload. The problem does not manifest itself when I use Internet Explorer. I have cleared the Cache and deleted all Cookies; I have reloaded Firefox which also failed to resolve the problem. Any ideas please?

Additional information 1.11.15 19:15hGMT. I have just tried uploading pictures to another site and received error message: "Your browser sent a message which the server could not understand". Pictures uploaded successfully using Internet Explorer 9.

Clear the cache and remove cookies only from websites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) to see if that helps.

I have carried out all of the above suggestions but the problem still exists.

Did you check your security software?

It is possible that Anti-Virus software is causing problems. Try to disable Anti-Virus software temporarily to see if that makes a difference.

No I'm afraid disabling the anti-virus doesn't help. It previously worked perfectly OK with anti-virus enabled. Think I'll have to uninstall Firefox and use a different browser. Google Chrome seems to work OK.

I've just downloaded the latest Firefox update and am now able to upload photographs to both Twitter and Yahoo Groups - have no idea how, what or why but all looks OK now; happy days :-)

I DO NOT BELIEVE IT. Everything was OK for just two days and now, all of a sudden and for no apparent reason, once again the uploading of photos to Twitter, Yahoo Groups etc. fails.

Think I may have resolved this. I was running Rapport Trusteer which I have disabled and I am now able to upload photos to Twitter etc.
