Where is the star icon for one-click bookmarking in Firefox 23.0.1?

There was a star icon in the address bar, which could add a bookmark in one click, no drop down menus or keyboard shortcuts needed. It was quick and convenient. Is it not in the firefox upgrade? If not, is there an add-on that can replace that feature?

Chosen solution

If it works in Safe Mode and in normal mode with all extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) disabled then try to find which extension is causing it by enabling one extension at a time until the problem reappears.

Close and restart Firefox after each change via "Firefox > Exit" (Windows: Firefox/File > Exit; Mac: Firefox > Quit Firefox; Linux: Firefox/File > Quit)

Try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

That wasnt removed. Reset the localstore.rdf file.

Opening firefox in safe mode restores the star quick bookmark icon. But restoring the localstore.rdf file does not replace the star bookmark icon.

Can you attach a screenshot that shows the Navigation Toolbar?

Use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot.

You may not notice this star icon as it can be quite faint when you aren't on a bookmarked page.

Are you using a custom theme?

You shouldn't restore a localstore.rdf, but let Firefox create a new file and redo all toolbar customizations.

Neither restoring a previous localstore.rdf from a backup nor allowing firefox to create a new one helped. Renaming the safe-mode localstore.rdf, did not help either.

The star icon is not there. It is obviously there in safe-mode. In the address bar there is a go to the page arrow pointing right, a drop down triangle, and a refresh circular arrow icon.

There is no custom theme installed. The icon vanished after updating firefox.

Clarification: The star icon is missing from the location bar. It has seemingly been replaced by the go-to-address arrow icon, which previously was not a static icon in the location bar.

The Old Location Bar add-on changed the bookmark icon. The add-on and firefox were updated recently. The quick bookmarking icon functioned with the previous edition of the add-on. Deleting the add-on restored the bookmark icon. Thank you for the suggestion which solved the issue.

I can see the quick bookmarking icon on the right side of my search toolbar when i click on customize. However when I close the customize it disappears. I dont have the Old Location Bar add-on.

Any ideas on how to get it back?

Hi eastonfmly

Could you please start a new thread for your question instead of posting in an existing thread?

Then you can provide more information like your operating system and installed extensions and installed plugins.
