Usually when I open Firefox 4 RC it will show "connecting" in the tab for sometimes a minute or more. Happens on my desktop and laptop both running Windows 7 Pro 64-bit. It seems to happen every time I cold start Firefox, and it happens a few other times with warm starting it.

Hi there derekmski.

I had this error as well. I believe it's an error caused by the 'TabRenamizer' add-on. This causes 'New Tab' or 'Connecting' to appear in the tab for extended periods of time, even after the page has fully loaded.

If you're running this add-on, try removing it. If not, I'm afraid I don't have any answers.

Same problem on Ubuntu 10.04.

And I don't have the TabRenamizer add-on installed, so that is not the issue. I don't know how long it will get stuck on "connecting" since after about 5-10 seconds, I kill the tab or hit reload, which usually does the trick. Some sites, I simply gave up on. I just don't have time to twiddle my thumbs while FF tries to figure out how to do what it used to do with no problem. If this keeps up - I'm ditching it for a while. Looks like FF 4 was not ready for prime time. Of all the browser annoyances possible, waiting for a page to load ANYTHING is the worst.

UPDATE: I'm no longer seeing this issue either. I guess it was a bug that was fixed. Its' been a few weeks now. I forgot all about it.

Firefox no longer has this issue (for me anyways) after I updated to the final version of Firefox.

Supporting bathycolpian's solution, this issue occurred for me until I disabled then re-enabled TabRenamizer.

Try disabling some add-ons to see if it has an effect.

thanks, this did seem to work. Hopefully there will be an update, as this is a really good extension!

The Adobe Acrobat PDF reader plugin is causing it on Ubuntu with the 4.0.1 release.
