When running Firefox address window fills up with characters and I get a message that the address is too large..ran anti malware (nothing) and reinstalled Firefox to no avail

That pretty much sums it up. When you run Firefox the address window fills up with characters (way more characters than the window is long) and continues to load characters until you get an Address too large message. If you erase all of the characters in the address window and type in an address, as soon as you hit enter the sequence starts over again.

I figured that I had a virus but ran anti malware program which says that I have no problems. Removing Firefox from my computer and installing the latest version did not fix the problem.

Do you have that problem when running in the Firefox SafeMode?

Don't select anything right now, just use "Continue in SafeMode."

Do a malware check with some malware scan programs.
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of the database before doing a scan.
