Firefox is locating me in states that I am not in. Had me stuck in TN for the states of Alabama, MISSISSIPPI, Georgia. While in NC has me located in TN and now in SC.

By default, websites use your IP address for geolocation. This doesn't require special permissions. Your IP address is based either on your local connection (home internet, hotel/business WiFi hotspot, etc.) or your VPN exit node.

You also can grant sites permission to access your precise location, which on mobile would usually be supplied using GPS, unless you set Android to block that information from Firefox.
