https being forced in non-private tabs
I used to have the https-only mode on, but I have since turned it because I'm unable to hit an http only site. However turning off this setting does not work. After disabling, I have tried disabling all extensions and forced an app restart, but I'm still being forced to https for a site I'm trying to use http for. I am not being forced in a private tab, so this makes me think that disabling https-only doesn't work anymore...

Since you mentioned the issue does not occur in a private tab, i think the browser has cached a security policy for the specific site.
To resolve this, you need to clear the stored policy and other site-specific data for that website.
Go to Menu > History > Manage History.
In the Library window, search for the name of the website that's forcing HTTPS.
Right-click on the site and Select "Forget About This Site".
This action clears all site data for that domain, including cookies, cache, passwords, and the policy setting.
This is Firefox for android, there is no "Manage History" option is history and there is no such thing as right click. Long press on items does nothing.
Ook sorry for that
Try that Clear cookies and website data for a single domain in Firefox for Android
I have cleared website data for the domain multiple times without any change in behavior.
