why does it say 'a codec is needed' on the watchseries site, that I have always used in the past with no problems?

Laptop with windows 7, something must have gone bad when I had to fix the last problem with infections (the bing toolbar) to my browser. I loaded the 'codec' (media player classic) but still couldn't play what i wanted on watchseries.ch...I made sure not to load any of the array of toolbars etc. with this. These constant problems are getting ridiculous, you fix one thing and something else gets messed up. Anyway, i would appreciate any tips.

Why videos do not work for me? You need Flash Player or DivX Player. Both of these programs are used everywhere online; their size is small and will not harm your computer. You should download them from here: DivX: http://www.divx.com/en/software/download/start Flash: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

Be very cautious about codecs and messages about installing them. Often they are false or misleading messages designed to infect your computer with malware. You may want to do some supplemental scanning as the first step. This article suggests tools other Firefox users have found helpful: Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware.

I've done the troubleshooting and completely uninstalled the 'codec player' which didn't help anyway. Bottom line is I always played video here on this laptop on the 'watchseries' site, and now I keep getting the 'codec needed' prompt. I'll keep trying things and hope i get some more help here

Could you give a more direct URL to a specific page that is displaying that message?

I keep getting a popup requiring me to register to stream. I'm going to pass on that.

I've used this site on my PC all the time for a year, but now on my laptop I am having problems, so I know it is NOT the site. I just watched something on the site tonight on my PC. So the site is ok as far as I can tell. I hope someone else can give some ideas as the first guy has given up, I'll keep trying.

I have 'shockwave flash' listed in plug-ins, but I will load the adobe flash you linked and see if it helps

Thank you, I don't know HOW adobe flash wasn't loaded, I know it was before, I loaded it and the site played video. Though adobe flash STILL isn't list on 'plug-ins' or 'extensions' , but whatever, Thank you, problem solved
