Ogv's used to play fairly well in Firefox but it appears that a recent update has done something so a large percentage of our videos don't play. Here is a JsFiddle to demonstrate the problem (it should load %100 of the 2 videos but instead it only gets to %50): https://jsfiddle.net/mcrockett/tzd1edoj/2/ At first, I thought this must have something to do with the codecs that were used. But in the example above the two videos appear to have the same codecs but one simply doesn't play in Firefox 50.

What is the problem?

hi mcrockett, could you check if the issue still reproduces with firefox 51beta?: https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/channel/ ...it recently received a fix for a similar sounding issue - bug 1319543

Yes, it works! So how long until this makes it to production? I would be remiss if I didn't mention that this fix would literally affect thousands of people around the world (people who use our product). Currently if a Firefox user contacts us we recommend they use a different browser due to this problem.

this patch is scheduled to go into a 50.1 bug fix release - it looks like it is going to be released mid-december. according to the analysis of mozilla engineers in the bug report, the files failing to playback would have issues too though (non-spec compliant, negative time).

Well, I wish the fix would be released sooner but I think I can write a work-around until then. As for the non-spec compliant issues, I honestly don't think that's a problem with many of our videos. We followed all the codec recommendations as per this page. But I guess I'm not too sure what negative time is...
