We're sorry to hear that your Firefox seems to be crashing. Please perform the following steps to give us a crash report ID that helps us find out more about the cause of the crash.
- Enter about:crashes in the Firefox location bar (that's where you enter your website names) and press Enter. You should now see a list of submitted crash reports.
- Copy the most recent 5 report IDs that you see in the crash report window and paste them into your forum response.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
- Do not click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.
Try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.
- Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

Hello, I have the same kind of problem.
I installed Windows 8 Pro (on desktop) and used Firefox 17.0.1 and everything worked fine.
But since yesterday, I experienced a very annoying problem : Firefox makes Windows 8 freeze (reboot needed). I first thought it was an Add-On problem, but starting Firefox in safe mode isn't helping. Aurora build has the same problem. I tried to delete the default profile, it didn't worked. I tried to un-install Firefox and re-install it again, still not fixed. Now I'm stuck using Chrome (or IE) and it bothers me a lot. Firefox is working like a charm on all my other devices (Jolicloud OS, Android, Windows 7 and Windows XP)
What information do you need to help me fix this.
Best regards,
Charles Bonneau

Try to boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.

I'll try to reboot Windows 8 in safe mode then. I'll let you know. Thank you.
FYI: The other solutions are not relevant since I simply cannot launch Firefox without crashing the entire OS.

An add-on that restored stability to my installation is Memory Fox. (I am in no way associated other than as a user.) What tipped me off is that the crashes began occurring after I had uninstalled it in the belief that memory problems had been fixed in FF. When the possible connection dawned on me I re-installed it and the stability returned.
After installation you need to pull down "Tools" click on Memory Fox and check "Activate Memory Fox - browser only." I had failed to do that and thought I was barking up the wrong tree until I noticed it, checked it and the problem went away. It may not help you but is worth a try.
My guess is that it is garbage collecting data and eliminating it's addressability before it is executed as instructions by something.
