after migrating to new windows 11 pc's how do I set Thunderbird so it will show that you have opened an email off the server at your terminal but others viewing same email account will see it as unopened until they open the email at their terminal, I have settings to not "automatically show as read" on all 3 terminals but now all incoming emails stay black highlighted as "unread" for all users sharing this account even after all 3 user terminals have actually opened said email using POP server

Whenever I select a message, Thunderbird automatically opens the message in a new tab. It hasn't always done this, and I don't want it to. It just started doing it one day and won't stop.

This is particularly painful when I select 10 messages to delete and instead I get 10 open windows! Please help me stop the madness.

How to recover INBOX & Sent messages from 3 Comcast email addresses from Acronis True Image 2020 Backup?

Had issues with Comcast emails. They were set up with POP settings. Was on the phone with Comcast and uninstalled 3 email addresses and reinstalled using IMAP settings. I did not delete the message data leaving that box unchecked. After about 1.5 hours on the phone with Comcast was able to get the reinstalled Comcast email addresses to pull all of the emails off Comcast website. But there are emails that are missing from each of the inbox and sent folders for each of the 3 Comcast email addresses.

I do an incremental weekly backup using Acronis True Image 2020 Home Edition. I see the folders in the path but since they were saved last Saturday under POP settings, the backups I will need to try to recover are in 3 of the Comcast folders in the "MAIL" folder and not "IMAPMAIL" folder which listed 6 folders from imap.comcast1.net through imapcomcast6.net.

What do I need to copy from the correct Comcast folder called "Profile" where the izpoojy7.default is? Within this izpoojy7.default is the folder mail.comcast-1.net which has 1 of the 3 Comcast email addresses I need to recover the inboxes and sent folder emails. Please see the attached photo of the contents of this mail.comcast-1.net folder.

Do I just copy the Inbox.mozmsgs as well as the Sent.mozmsgs files? Or do I also need to recover more of the files within the respective mail.comcast-1.net folder? Thank you for any assistance you can offer on this matter.

I have an outlook email on my Windows PC, via Thunderbird. For a long time each email I send has been joined by and unknown and unwanted additional address ' sophieprimaryworld@gmail.com ' with an always full inbox. This address appeared in my contacts list (unkown to me) and was deleted, but still attaches, seemingly both in inward and outward directions. The result often is a letter - 'tried to contact you without success' even though I get the incoming item. More recently by outlook account is password barred on my PC but now my android mobile also generates 'undeliverable messages. I would be obliged for help to remove tha anonymous Sophie from my system. Thanks to anyone in anticipation

Whenever I get new a new email I get a sound notification and a few seconds later it's followed by a second sound notification for the same email. The taskbar displays a notification for 2 new emails as well, when there is only one. Any ideas about this?

I need some advice on my Thunderbird email system. The problem(s) that I’m having are what’s frequently discussed with regard to Tbird “gulping” system drive storage, without frequent release.

I have been reading most of the narratives from this complaint, but the problem I’m having seems a lot different. So, I came here to explain my observation(s), in hopes I could correct this issue.

1. I am a long term Thunderbird POP3 user, since before the failures began related to signon security changes, before the Tbird corrections were employed(figuratively rewritten). I left Tbird during that time, and now I’m back. 2. So, like many others, my problem(s) arise from Tbird’s apparent failure to relinquish storage areas, when unused. 3. Right now, My W10 system drive(SSD) is setting at sitting at 122G. 4. It should be <100G, and it’s been as high as 13xG. 5. But, through some magic, something seems to happen during a inactive period, that will magically trip this storage to a more reasonable value. I have seen this 122G drop to 102G, but not in a very long time. 6. Beyond the fact that I’m stumped, I chose to write this narrative because my operations/experiences are significantly different from others I’ve read. 7. First, this is the only problem that I’m having with Tbird. Everything that I perform operates flawlessly. 8. And, probably even more noteworthy, is that I never maintain ANY email data inside Tbird. Barring absence, as soon as I determine email arrival, or any email changes, I simply move that email to a system repository for archival. As soon as this archival is complete, the email is deleted from it’s point of arrival. So, IOW, every time I close this system, Tbird will be completely empty of current mail. 9. Additionally, I initially configured ALL email storage repository to reside on another system removable drive. 10. Prior to this note, I issued the compact request. I did see a 3.0MB, but I’ve never seen anything above 0 MB before. 11. Additional attempts as solving this storage release problem, has warranted my purchase of a software product that will allow me to “look” into the internal storage of Tbird and several competitors, to send this hidden data to other repositories. It’s a long story, but I needed the product to migrate email data, where only Print PDF was avail- able. 12. But, it’s been very helpful in identifying Tbird internal email data that remains, despite the fact that I’d cleaned Tbird of everthing prior to my last review. 13. And, another issue is that all the email data that external email tool identifies, is deeply hidden from my standard Tbird client. The email data may be several/many days old, even though the related viewable email data had been archived/deleted several days earlier. 14. I mentioned that I have my email data re-positioned(#8) to external system repository drive for archival. This specification is issued in the “Local Directory” definition defined within each email target definition. From my long past experie- nces with Tbird, I learned that I could enter each of these “Local Directory” alternate repositories, and just simply erase them of ALL email data. 15. And, the next time Tbird was initialized, those “Local Directory” repositories would be rebuilt, clean. This will remove all email characteristics formerly present. And, the remote repositories(#11) will be built clean, and no latent email data will remain. However, this is probably unavailable for the 99.99% of users that maintain email on/in the Tbird system. 16. Tbird does, at some time, reorganize these repositories to regain wasted drive space. I don’t know/understand just what triggers this reorganization, and it never seems to “sync” the complete unused storage available. Right now, my system drive(SSD) was up to 122GB. Some time during my research, I noticed a drop to 111GB. But, if all empty data was reorganized, it would be <100GB. Of course, when I describe these system drive totals, I’m referencing the high limit of storage, including ALL installed software. (#5). 17. Yesterday Thunderbird worked just fine. This morning I tried to respond to several emails and got this error message: Sending of the message failed '"An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: [VO=1] Message blocked due to spam content in the message. Please check the message and try again."

There was no spam in the person's email... just text.

Next I tried to send a freshly created email with just a YouTube video... then the last half of the error message said: An error occurred while sending: RBL restriction: Blacklisted by Internal Reputation Service - 195.181.168.179

What is going on??? The SMTP settings are correct: Port 587 STARTTLS Help!!

I successfully migrated Tb from W10 to W11, but I cannot get new msgs since. I think Windows 11 is blocking me, because I get a momentary window that 'I cannot use my personal login" when Tb is trying to use my settings that worked on the W 10 TB to get my mail. W11 is driving me crazy!

Any insights and help will be greatly appreciated.

I will receive an email in my Inbox and open it to read. When I close and exit the email, it will stay bolded in the Inbox, as if it's a new email that hasn't been read yet. The only way to get it to "un-bold" to show it's been read already, is to right click on it and select "mark as read". Is there a setting I am missing to show opened emails as read?

Hello I download emails from the server to Thunderbird using POP3; the emails are NOT deleted from the server. The POP3 Inbox allows me to create sub folders. However I also have the option to create sub folders under Local Folders. I am not sure which method to use when when cleaning out the Inbox to subject-matter subfolders - create them under POP3 or local folders?

Note that I use POP3 instead of IMAP because multiple people access the account.

Hey, all! I'm running the latest Thunderbird (137) on Windows 10.

I noticed that when I'm viewing messages in the unified inbox, I can no longer hit Ctrl-R or Shift-Ctrl-R to reply, nor can I use Ctrl-L to forward a message. (The toolbar buttons don't work either.) I have to either open the message and reply/forward from there, or view the message in the particular account's inbox (rather than the global inbox).

I don't recall this being an issue before, but it started happening either with version 135 or 136. I thought it was an add-on, but even in Troubleshooting Mode the problem persists.

Is this an intended change in the behavior? A bug? A setting I can change? Thanks for any help!
