Hi, sorry to ask, but my E drive (where I keep data, etc) died. I do have backup and have the whole Thunderbird\Profiles folder. I watched the YT video, but I don't get it. It should just be easy to point the whole folder to it. All my stuff on C is fine, so it does come up with the email accts and the address book. I did try to do an Import, but got errors. Please Help! I am an OLD IT guy, so I am not stupid. It should be easier than this! I will attach 2 pics. Maybe someone will take pity on me...LOL.

FYI, I use an Over 10 year old W7Prof Installation, migrated thru about 3 pc's, on an i-5 (yes, I am lazy And Love W7) and my 1TB hard drive is over 12 years old (yes, I know...don't ask), And It DIED. So you can imagine what I been going thru since last Sat!!! WHAT A MESS AND BRAIN STRAIN!

Also, I HATE Gmail Web Mail!!!

Oh, and I have donated before. I had Windows Live Mail forever, but when Googley put the OAUTH PW mod in, I had to switch. I do like T-Bird. Sorry to write so much...Thanks again...

THANKS, Sam in FL

Hi all I recently bought a new laptop that has to be exchanged as it's faulty. I had no problem moving my profile from my win 10 laptop to the new win 11 one, however I now need to put all my emails back to my old laptop and although I can go through the import procedure when I restart Thunderbird none of the new emails are there. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I installed Thunderbird yesterday and tried to connect my work account, which is a Google workspace gmail account with the organization's domain instead of gmail.com. I set the servers as smtp.gmail.com and managed to select OAuth2 for authentication (this was difficult and required me to set the port at 465). I went through the permission process with Google, which now acknowledges (in a very warning sort of way) that Thunderbird has access to my account. I even sent an email from Thunderbird, which showed up in the sent folder on the gmail account and was received by the sent to account. However, I see only an empty inbox and empty local Trash and Outbox folders in Thunderbird. It's just not syncing anything (or maybe downloading anything?) from the gmail account. I need it to sync all my mail folders and my calendars as well, so two big problems need to be solved before I can use Thunderbird at all. I sure appreciate any help I can get!

Hi, In a new Windows 11 PC Thunderbird 115.81.1 (64-bit) was installed. Then I did /Server Settings/Message storage/Local Directory/F:Mail

The F:\Mail is an external USB-drive. The left pane then showed two main folders:

x@y.no Local Folders

In both of these there is an Inbox sub-folder. The one under "Local Folders" shall be set as the "Global Inbox". In many pages on the web, e.g. a MozillaZine page, it is explained how to do this. The key point here is to navigate to the "Server Settings" and clock on the "Advanced button".

My problem is that there is none; see the uploaded image.

Could anyone, please, tell me where I did my error?

Best regards; ChG

DELETED THUNDERBIRD APP BY MISTAKE - URGENT (please...)

I use a MacBook Pro v. 10.15.7 (Catalina), and I live in the UK. I am going to upgrade my old MacBook Pro to a MB Air, and my Time Machine has stopped working. While researching a solution I found that perhaps there was not enough space on my HD to 'create a snapshot'. So in the process of deleting stuff in order to make space, I found lots of 'duplicates' in the Apps Storage section of the HD, I thought it was safe to delete them as the 'originals' would still be there (same date, same size). I now know I have been very ignorant/stupid (my dog died a few weeks ago and my mental health hasn't been the same since.) However, I was very mistaken and seem to have deleted a lot of my working apps, the most important of which being Thunderbird, which gathered my 4 different email accounts. I'm not sure what version I had last, as it has disappeared, but I'm pretty sure it would be the latest version. My latest download is 68.2.2 (20.11.19). So I tried to reinstall it, but came across this notification 'You have launched an older version of Thunderbird... Create new profile, or Quit.' I googled this but being a not-very-techy senior lady, I can't make sense of what I should do, my main concern being not to lose all my settings, my emails saved in folders, as well as being able to receive and send. I am sure I saw some reference in the past of a library which would contain the emails, but don't know what to do about this notification. The other problem, of course is that I can't completely rely on Time Machine as my last backup is dated 24.7.23. Thank goodness today is a Sunday as there should be less traffic on my email accounts (I am involved with lots of local activities, including being a community journalist). I would be so grateful if someone could help me navigate this minefield and reinstate my app so it works as closely as it did before. Many thanks in advance for your help and patience.

I just bought a new MacBook Pro and migrated my old MacBook Pro to the new one. Thunderbird did not migrate with all the other apps. Firefox moved fine, bookmarks and all. I found the article "Moving Thunderbird to a New Computer" and have tried several times to follow the instructions with no success. The new computer is running OS 13.0.1. Both computers have Thunderbird 102.50 installed. Any Ideas? My main concern is losing the email history (sent, received and archived) on the old computer. Thank you.

I am attempting to move Thunderbird to a new computer following the instructions from the website and it is not working.

The original computer is Windows 10 and has had Thunderbird installed for a long time and was recently updated to 102.14.0 (64 bit). The new computer is Windows 11 with a clean install of 102.14.0 (64 bit). When I copy the folders from the old computer to the new one and launch Thunderbird, it is not recognizing that the profile has been copied over, there are no email accounts, etc.

I did note that the folder structure is different - the old one was under Mozilla Thunderbird and the new one is just Thunderbird; the Profile folder on the old one is Profile and the new one is Profiles and some of the files are different.

Any ideas on how to successfully migrate this?

Running up-to-date TB 115.6.0 (32-bit)

I have an older backup of WINMail ... a load of folders each with a number of eml files. I wish to import email only, not contacts etc.

I went to TB import tool ... but it does not have option for WINMail Did a bit of Googling .... it seems there are several approaches

1. One source says to install an addon - I went to look at ImportExportTools but it says it only works to TB ver 60

2. Another source says to roll back TB to old version of TB and then install import add / on

seems risky to remove current ver 115 60 is a long way back.

3. Another says to convert WINMail to Mbox then use standard import tool

4. Another - said simply create a blank folder and drag and drop eml files into it - tried and that does not work

What is simplest method that works  ? .

I came across this message from March 2022 -

"I read at AskLeo that I could use Thunderbird with Gmail as a way to backup my Gmail emails to my computer. I then want to backup the Thunderbird folder using a backup program to save the emails to an external drive.

On Windows 10 Home, where do I find the emails that Thunderbird is downloading from Gmail? I recently installed Thunderbird 102.1.0 (64-bit) using IMAP and OAuth2 authentication. "

which describes my problem well.

The answer relates to Windows 10, but I am using Linux Mint. I think I installed Thunderbird flatpack version but I cannot find the profile to backup and although I think all my emails (around 25,000) were downloaded from gmail, I cannot find them and so cannot take a backup.

I'm trying to import my .pst file from Outlook 2007 into Thunderbird v102.3.1 following the procedure outlined in the help area but it fails with "No profile found" - see attached screenshot. I suspect that Thunderbird is expecting to find the .pst file in a location different to where it's stored. Where is it expecting to find it?

Or if that's not the reason any suggestion to fix the problem would be appreciated.

I currently have TB 102 running on a Linux Mint desktop. The email is POP3 from att (actually snet). They require a different app password for each computer. I have the different app password. I want to use my Linux Mint laptop to access my email and use a backup of the desktop's profile when the desktop is out of service. Laptop does not have any .thunderdird folder yet as TB has not been started. I am looking at the http://mzl.la/1ApHiU3 support page. It seems that these instructions are replacing Laptop's hidden .thunderbird folder with desktop's .thunderbird folder. This seems odd since Step3 of "On your Destination Computer", opens Thunderbird. Won't that create a .thunderbird folder with new installs.ini and profiles.ini files? They will be replaced in Step8.

I am concerned that Step3's newly created .ini files (which have a different hash that links them) will be lost in Step8 and there is some dependency on that hash value that is not clear. Is that hash sent to the email server so that they can identify the machine/app that is accessing their server?

Is there a more appropriate support page for what I need to do? I am not clear on the subsequent steps to launch TB on the laptop and change the password on the laptop. At some point I would need to reverse the direction to bring the Laptop's Profile back to the Desktop. Any advice would be appreciated.

I have a problem with the import of my b/u profile into new install of tBird. I see the mail folder copied to my C:/, but I can't pull anything up in the new install. I let TBird accept the default of imap, and now find the mail:Local folders may be in POP. Is that why I can't pull them up in the program? If so, do I change the program from imap to Pop3, or is there some other way to get the old mail into right place. I'm sorry I've confused, been working on this all day and it's really a stretch for me. Thanks in advance. Stacy
