I updated my desktop browser today and now there is an expandable sidebar at the left margin of the window showing tool icons for Tabs from other devices, History and Customize sidebar. I can see how to remove tool icons and how to expand or collapse sidebar but can I remove the sidebar completely? Is this an option? I prefer the old look with the browser web page content extending all the way to the left of the screen, without the narrow vertical sidebar.

With the latest update 136.01 whenever I click on any Thunderbird mail I get a popup screen that says "Thunderbird Email wants to access you Google account". The screen implies there is an "Allow" link that I should click on but none exists! Then the only way out of this screen is use the esc key. That takes me back to my Thunderbird mail but anything I try to initialises this pop up up screen again. So my email account is totally unusable. I have used Thunderbird over ten years and have not had any problem. I hope it can be fixed. Thank You. Gary Nye. text me at xxx 408 9995

I use Thunderbird on a Mac. A couple weeks ago, it stopped working properly. It will download and display messages, but I can't forward, reply or send a new message. I thought I would uninstall and reinstall, but first want to export the address book. I can't do that either. Any suggestions on what happened and how to fix it?

TB 128.8.0esr (64-bit)

In one account the Trash folder is a subfolder of Inbox. I do not know how that happened. It is the "official" Trash folder; the icon is unique and I cannot delete it.

There is a regular folder named "Trash" that appears to be linked (shadowed?) to the real Trash folder.

How do I move that subfolder ("Trash") to the top level, equal with the Inbox?

This is a similar problem to other threads, but I haven't found my solution there.

(1) Opened Thunderbird (128.8.1, 64 bit, Windows 10) this morning, and got "No messages found" in every folder, including Local Folders.

(2) Thunderbird still retrieves New (unread) messages, audio-announces them, and the header appears in the Message Header pane. But once they are read, the message header no longer appears.

(3) In Troubleshoot Mode, all messages are still there and visible. Turned all extensions and hardware acceleration off, and using the standard system theme. Problem is still there in normal mode.

(4) If I run Search, it finds all relevant messages, and I'm able to display them.

It could be a bug in the program, or I may have just accidentally changed some setting that's causing this -- but it sure would be nice to get everything back and visible. Help, please!

I am using Linux Mint Cinnamon 21.3 and Thunderbird POP3 email. I have 10 email accounts.

What I have noticed is the Thunderbird 128 series startup email check and/or "get all messages" is quite slow compared to previous versions.

Thunderbird 102.15.1 took only 4 seconds to check 10 email accounts, Thunderbird 115.18.0 took 5 seconds, but Thunderbird 128 and 136 series takes 15 seconds. All of these have used the same user profiles.

There is no antivirus software active. All messages are deleted from all accounts. No messages to download and checking for messages is still slow.

I have tried the Betterbird 128 series, a fork of Thunderbird, and it too behaves the same. Betterbird 115 series work fine, just like the Thunderbird 115 series.

Is this slowness in the 128 and 136 series by design?

I have been trying to stay on releases and was told to upgrade to 115.10.1. So I did that and was told to go to 115.18.0 and it was not noted as esr. So I did and was immediately told to go to 128.8.1 esr. I was not on the esr channel and do not want/need to be on esr. about:config has been changed to esr channel from release w/o my ok - the least I'd expect is a warning. Release 115.x.x has betas and releases more than I had seen previously - aboutr 25-26. It looks like nothing but betas from 116 to 128 and a lot of what look like releases from x.0 to x.10.2 which is new to me. What is the rational behind all these versions and why there is not a simple center of how to use this info? I remember when way back, tbird had issues but they were manageable.

How can I disable the huge Firefox logo appearing on the top of the default home tab? It is enormous and takes up valuable space. Instead of having four neat rows of shortcuts which all show on a new page (like it used to be) that page looks terrible now. I have tried everything formerly recommended to others asking the same question (about:config, proton, etc.) and nothing works. My current version is 136.0.4 (64-bit). A workable solution would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I use an AOL email account and Thunderbird on my Mac. In Thunderbird, the junk mail folder - which AOL call "Bulk Mail" for some reason - has moved to the Trash folder and I can't get it out. It's a Thunderbird problem - if I go onto my account at AOL.com, everything is normal. How do I get it out? I've tried cutting and pasting it, creating a new folder...nothing seems to work. I don't want to empty the trash in case I no longer have a junk folder at all
