Ever since the MAFF extension was introduced, I've downloaded literally hundreds of web pages archived in that format (I fell in love with it because the format used up so much less space than the mht format). Only problem is, I cannot open them in Windows 7 because it will not let me add Firefox to the list of available programs even after I browse to the firefox.exe after right-clicking the file and selecting "Open With" in the context menu. Is there a reg fix for this?
P.S.: I'm planning to install the Extended Support Release version of Firefox which should give me another six months of support for this extension while I come up with an alternative for archiving web pages. But for now, I desperately need to open these files because prior to switching to the Windows 7 machine I'd downloaded a boatload of maff archived pages containing instructions and tutorials I needed to ease my transition to Win 7.
Thanks,

This is in Linux Mint 18, Fx 52.3.7 esr.
I'm posting this for others benefit, if some standard fixes don't work.
I'll cut to the chase. Once upon a...oops, sorry, Rock - wrong hat. One day links opened from external apps stopped opening in tabs in the current window as they had done for eons. I read numerous articles & posts on sites, including https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1193456 various fixes, which worked for some.
In mine, external links started opening a new window, using a different, old profile, but used the current Fx version. Changing the 3 about:config prefs mentioned in the linked post above, that control link opening behavior wasn't my problem or a solution. Also, disabled TabMix Plus, that has tab opening settings. Nada.
Even though I've used one profile almost exclusively since Jan. 2018, external links recently started opening in an old profile & new window. At first I thought it might be a desktop file issue, as some paths in old Fx launchers commands no longer existed. Cleaning out the defunct ones was a good idea but no solution.
I discovered the same old profile was always called by links in external applications. That lead to finding the old profile was back to the default profile in the profile manager. I edited the profiles.ini file (usually in the root "firefox" folder containing the profiles) & made the new profile the default. No change in link opening.
(you can access profile manager even if firefox is running, using the command: firefox -P -no-remote Don't monkey around with anything unless you know what you're doing or get help.
The old profile being set as default probably shouldn't have made external links open in a "new window" even if the profile in use wasn't the "default", because the Fx version in use said it WAS the default browser.
It wasn't the whole problem. The 3 about:config prefs are about links opening in same or new window, not, "open a different profile for external links only." That may be a bug or coded behavior that KB articles I've seen don't discuss.
The new Fx version & new profile still showed "Firefox is currently your default browser," and "Always check if Firefox is your default browser" was checked, as it had been. It said that, but wasn't respecting it.
I thought I'd outsmart the external apps & move the old profile. That just made them mad & complained that "the profile (or files?) you're trying to access (the old profile) can't be located," so links from external apps wouldn't open.
I checked Preferences > General tab again after hiding the old profile and now it said, "Firefox is NOT your default browser, moron." Little harsh. Somehow, as long as the old profile was accessible, even after the corrections - that I've done many times over years, external links were hell bent on using the old profile, long after it WASN'T the default.

I am trying to help someone who has a Firefox Add-on that prevents access to adult sites. It works fine and when a blocked URL is entered, this is returned:
The http://www.blocked-site.com domain is blocked to protect this computer from malware or pornographic content.
[NOTE the "www.blocked-site.com" above is just an example; in actuality, the domain is shown]
My friend has created a html file on his computer with a stronger admonition and would like for the browser to redirect to, and display, his custom html file instead of what is currently served.
I am pretty sure something would have to examine the incoming page for some text excluding the actual domain because that would change depending on which site access was attempted. Maybe examine the incoming page for "domain is blocked to protect this computer" and, if present, display the html file. I just don't know how to do it.
I would appreciate any help.

I have Gmail in a container using the official multi-account containers add on. If I click on a link within an email I want that page to open in a normal tab i.e. no container.
I realise I can do this using the context menu but that is cumbersome to do every time and I often would forget anyway. Is there way therefore to modify the functionality to enable this behaviour by default i.e. for every link within an email to open in a normal tab?

I'm using Arch Linux on a working PC, with a proprietary NVIDIA driver installed. Our team is using bitbucket and started to use trello now. The problem is, when I open trello's card with a bitbucket frame inside, the bitbucket show 'loading...' all the time and boost cpu usage to 100%, until a popup showing 'A web page is slowing down your browser' lets me to stop it. The same webpage works on chromium, however I'm a firefox fan for a long time and don't really want to switch to chrom*. The problematic script should be "https://bello.prod.atl-paas.net/attachment.f6e55328fb46e5361c8a.js", but I'm not sure why it will cause the problem, is it not properly parsed or excuted? I would be very grateful if anyone could kindly provide any ideas for solving this problem.

Any video resolution higher than 144p is very jerky with lots of frozen frames (although the audio generally plays OK). At first I thought it might have been that my mac needed more than 8Gb of memory, but then I decided to try several other browsers to make sure. Whichever browser I chose I could play videos in 1080p with no delay issues. So firefox was the problem! To be honest I'm loathe to change browsers, so I hope that a solution can be found. Using activity monitor, the memory firefox was using has been at times 8,000 Mb (!) I've just done a 'factory reset' and the usage is down to just under 1,000 Mb - which still seems a lot to me. And then there are the other bits such as FirefoxCP Web Content which are adding an extra 800Mb. The high-memory usage (and lousy youtube quality) is happening with no other programs open. I also find that every hour or so I have to go to the Preferences pane - Privacy & Security - Cached Web Content - Clear Now because as it gets to around 500Mb things do start to slow down. This can't be normal procedure, surely? Hope you can find a solution Thanks!

XMarks is closing. Eversync is unreliable. So the only sync in town for Firefox users is Firefox Sync.
That makes it a shame that Mozilla doesn't have a review page, where users can rate Firefox Sync and talk over their experiences. It would greatly reassure potential users.
Also, Firefox Sync is under-documented. Does it have, like XMarks, a facility by which users can access their bookmarks when they cannot access their local browsers, e.g. when travelling? No way of knowing, without trying it! Does it sync Folders and the arrangement of links within folders accurately? No way of knowing, without trying it! Does it allow uploads to the server, downloads from the server? No way of knowing, without trying it!
Come on Firefox, a few pages of documentation, please!

I also got the iOS pocket app and logged in using the Firefox account; no issues
When I browse to pocket website direct I log in and it is all fine..
However.. now when I am browsing the click the pocket button on address bar, it still behaves as if I don’t have an account (ie tells me the create an account..) I’m logged into Firefox ..
So I cannot add links to my pocket account from Firefox.. which was the reason I signed up in the first place!

I’m running Mac OS 10.12.6 with Firefox 59.0.2 on two MAC minis. I deleted a few certificates on one mini and now when I try to go to Mozilla.org or almost any place, I get “your connection is not secure…”. When I click advanced, I get "www.mozilla.org uses an invalid security certificate…" and I do not get the exception button. I’m up to date. I tried deleting Firefox and reinstalling it. Still the same problem. I can not get to the web page with the refresh button. Is there something that I can copy from my other mini? Or is there some other fix? Do I really need certificates dated from 1999? or for AOL? Sent from my other mini. Thank you.
