I was using a brother lazer printer HL1435 on my desktop using Windows XP pro. I installed a Kodak ESP3250 printer and all other programs accept the new default printer. When I went to about:config and searched for print I found only references to the Brother HL1435. I reset the print.printer reference and restarted Firefox. When I go to file print nothing happens. i went back to the config file and reset all items starting with print and restarted firefox. Firefox still will not print and the config file has no printer listed.

Chosen solution

I installed my printer into my laptop and firefox recognized it with no problem. Both my laptop and desktop are running Windows XP. I completly uninstalled firefox from my desktop and verified the profile files were gone then reinstalled and still the printer will not work. Ive had it with FF so I am uninstalling and going to chrome. Thanks for the suggestions.

As I mentioned in the details I have already reset the firefox printer settings. The prefs.js file does not have any settings for a printer at all.

Yesterday b4 installing chrome I tried one last thing. I deleted the entire Mossilla folder from my application data and Program files folder. Then I went to my backup files and copied these folders back. When i ran the program the printer now works. I was on version 26. When I let the program update to v28 it would not print so I went back to v26.
