Hi,

How do I enable the viewing of graphic inserts in received email ? Or, how can I unblock remote images ? Or, how can I allow images from all senders ?

Have accessed the website 'Constant Contact' for aan answer but the answer is not correct, as when I click on Tools, Options, Privavacy, General, there is no method given to allow images from all senders !

Don't know what to do to solve the [problem stated above !

Need help !

Many thanks !

RMS

The only show stopper for me with 31 is the slow auto completion of Addresses. This will be fixed in 31.1 or whatever patch release comes out in the next few weeks. Other than that it is good practice to backup your profile often anyway and before a full upgrade definitely. Although I just do not take my own advice.

Add the sender to your address book, at the bottom of the add window check the option to allow the remote content

Many thanks, but need more detailed information !

1. Where is the 'add' window ? Don't see any such thing at all. 2. So, how can the option be checked ? 3. Therefore, can't allow remote content ! 4. Senders are already in the address book, except for web sites etc., so don't understand what is meant by that instruction.

Thanks again for a sufficiently detailed, and much more complete instructions, as those given are insufficent, as said.

Await your kind reply !

Click on Address Book >> New Contact

Hi,

That answer definitely did not result in solving the problem stated, since I don't want to start a new Contacts list .

Think that it's time to give up on asking for help.

Thanks in any case !

If you wish to compromise your security, there are instructions here on how to do that http://kb.mozillazine.org/Privacy_basics_%28Thunderbird%29

But the information you have received is correct. Those in your address book with the show remote option checked (Default) will display images. Creating an address book for those you specifically want to know your email address is valid is not really that much of an ask. Spammers will be looking at your requests for images to be sure, and associating the requests with the email address the mail was sent to.

Mail Chimp is a popular email marketing tool. have a look here http://mailchimp.com/features/reports/ at the information enabling images provides to them

I have other protections from emails with potential problems, so I don't need mozilla's ideas of protection. After updating no embedded graphics work. I have: Tried the email address book method, no result Changed the proxy settings, no result Edited the config settings toggling to allow images and plug-ins in email Removed mozilla automatic junk analysis in every email account settings

Still not getting graphics. I get maybe 10-15 trusted source emails with embedded images and this is getting seriously annoying.

Glad you have "other protections" I seriously hope they are not in the form of an Internet Security Suite" as they mostly originate in the USA they mostly do not touch privacy as it is a source of litigation from those invading your privacy.

If changing mailnews.message_display.disable_remote_image to false. does not make images appear I have no idea. Have you tries restarting with add-ons disables? It could be an add-on blocking images.

However major changes are in the wind and the next version will have a new whitelist process. perhaps you could try the earlybird version that is out. I think it has the changes in it. http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/channel/

Thanks for the reply. Still no images, but I will try the plug-in trick but it just takes me to firefox and I do use the latest flash and adobe (after having to do manual installs) The only plug-ins installed are Foxit (pdf reader) Java, Quicktime, Shockwave, Windows Media Player plug-in dll and Yahoo Active X plug in bridge. The last one I do not remember selecting at all.

I do not need a whitelist, I select and delete directly on the servers with Mailwasher and only download a few emails I want on my computer, much of the rest are read and replied to on the server if they are not deleted.

I have been able to click on some emails to read as a web page, but not all give me that option.

I have the same problem. A few days ago I downloaded Search&Destroy version 2 but that caused all sorts of problems. I uninstalled it but still have the problem with the graphics not showing. This might be due to S&D but I doubt it. I think the trouble started after downloading S&D but am not sure. I have tried the solution advised above but it does not solve the problem.

The release of Thunderbird 31 completely changes the way images are manager in Thunderbird. Nothing in this thread is valid in Thunderbird 31. Anyone using an earlier version must upgrade to the latest version if they are having problems and start their own support thread..

Thanks for that Matt. I have had a look at some reactions to Thunderbird 31 on the Forum and they do not fill me with confidence. I will soldier on with my current version for the time being. The article on Remote Content in Messages is very informative so thanks again!

Again, I am using version 31.0 and it was when I downloaded it, all my embedded images went away.
