When I try to get access to my profile folder, Where it shows "Show Folder" and I try clicking on the button Show Folder and a pop comes up saying C:\Visitor\AppData\Roaming\Firefox\Profiles\9dobauv9.default -1391566427195 is not accessible. Access is denied. Does it mean that a visitor has access to my computer instead of me? I am currently using Vista Operating System and I downloaded the Current Version of Firefox 26.0 In order to use Firefox, I have to go in as Administration. So even as Administration, I get the same message.

Did you reset Firefox?

  • Epoch time string: 1391566427195 = Wed, 05 Feb 2014 02:13:47 GMT

The Firefox profile folder is usually in the "C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\" location

What is the content of the profiles.ini file in that location?

Note that Windows hides some file extensions by default.
Among them are .html and .ini and .js and .txt, so you may only see the name profiles without file extension.
You can see the real file type (file extension) in the Properties of the file via the right-click context menu in Windows Explorer.

Do not get confused with the Profiles folder in the same location that stores the profiles.

I will check the information out but why is it that when I click on Firefox I get the message that my profile is missing, can't be located. This is what lead me to want to look in the profile folder to see what was in there, and that is when I received the message that I was denied access.

I will go back and recheck, but actually, I don't know what I am looking for. All I know is that I can't access Firefox via the short cut, I must access Firefox as Administrator. How can I correct that? Maybe that is what I need to ask.

Thanks

That is usually caused by a problem with the profiles.ini file and the profile marked as Default=1 is no longer present on the hard drive.

  • Windows: "%AppData%\Mozilla\Firefox\"
  • Linux: ~/.mozilla/firefox/
  • Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/Firefox/
  • Delete the profiles.ini file to force Firefox to create a new default profile
  • Use the Profile Manager to create a new profile
  • Use "Choose Folder" to recover an existing profile if there is still one present
