Okay so I have been using Firefox as my main browser for years. I have little to NO problems with it except lately the shockwave problem. But that's not a big deal. My problem is with Firefox 26, I was notified of a update for it this morning and I upgraded to Firefox 26. Now every time I use this browser I get ads all over my screen and popups. I uninstalled and used IE for a little while with no ads popping up. So I went back to the firefox site and upgraded again. After about 10 minutes the ads start popping back up. if I don't have a fix for this I will reluctantly be forced to uninstall Firefox permanently. I am a real estate professional and when I am in my local MLS some key words like DATE are highlighted and if I mouse over it says "meet single girls in $$$$$" with a picture.

hello Jwg1978, you have various malicious addons present. please try these steps:

  1. reset firefox (this will keep your bookmarks and passwords)
  2. afterwards go to firefox > addons > extensions and in case there are still extensions listed there, disable them.
  3. finally run a full scan of your system with different security tools like the free version of malwarebytes and adwcleaner to make sure that adware isn't present in other places of your system as well.

That seems to have cleared it up.

Thank you very much!
