Chosen solution

I finally resolved the issue. Avast, an anti virus software, had an enabled extension in Firefox. Once I disabled the extension in Firefox the problem was solved. May want to share this with others who use Avast anti virus software. (note Avast did no impact Explorer so must be something unique to Firefox for recognizing the extension where Explorer does not)

Hello,

There was a block to a add-on called Hola that was updated by Youtube recently that was causing a number of crashes.

Bug 941892

Please let us know if the crashing, though you did not mention a crash. If you can let us know what steps you did take to try to troubleshoot, this will be helpful. Though on that website, the platform, brightcove syncs with youtube, so this might have been the issue, but if it still not playing:

Two things to try if you have not already A). Hardware acceleration

Right click the video and click on "Settings..."
   Click on "Enable hardware acceleration"

B. ) Safemode this will troubleshoot if its a plugin or add on causing the issue: Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.

(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)

   * On Windows you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
  • Or open the Help menu and click on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item while Firefox is running.

Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article.

To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.

When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know.

Hi mikerachiele, thank you for reporting back.

The "avast! Online Security" extension has caused problems on some other sites as well. See: Disqus and other comment boxes no longer appear.
