When I click on Mozilla a tab is created and a website is opened automatically. I tried to remove pin - but it isn't "pinned".

I wouldn't mind closing the tab each time I click on the internet but the website that is automatically opened is a huge drain on my ram and it freezes my computer. I thought that maybe the website was set to my homepage. but no. When I right click on the tab it only offers me the option of pin tab - not remove tab. I have tried to pin the tab and then remove it - still did not work. I ran malware and am infection free.

Can you close this tab if you open another tab, so there are at least two tabs open?

You can check the target field in the Properties via the right-click context menu of the Firefox desktop shortcut.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.

You can check for problems with preferences.
Rename or delete the prefs.js file and possible numbered prefs-##.js files and a possible user.js file to reset all prefs to the default value.
