How can I roll back the latest update?

Since the last update, I cannot customize the zoom in Firefox. This is vital because it enables me to finish the online courses and exams I am taking. Since the last update I cannot use the buttons at the bottoms of all the screens of the online courses and exams. Some companies do not have the resources to keep up with the latest version browsers and can't change as often as private people. Firefox must keep this in consideration. I can't find any information on customizing the zoom. That function is no longer there. Even without taking the courses, I absolutely detest this. Firefox zooms in too closely for most sites and I absolutely detest having to adjust it every time I change a page. If Firefox does not change its product so that zoom can be set at a different level I will have to stop using it altogether. Do you really want me to use a competitor? I need to finish the courses and exams by in THREE DAYS. Your product is not helping one bit.

hello, firefox 22 is now respecting the pixel density you've set on a system level in the windows control panel > appearance > display. more information about that is available at http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/make-the-text-on-your-screen-larger-or-smaller

if you want to set the text size/pixel density in firefox different from that of your system's settings like it was handled in prior versions, enter about:config into the firefox address bar (confirm the info message in case it shows up) & search for the preference named layout.css.devPixelsPerPx. double-click it and change its value to 1.0 (or any other zoom factor that fits your purpose: 1.0 relates to 100%, 0.8 equals 80% and so on; -1.0 is the default value and will adhere to the system settings).

That is too difficult a solution for the average user. It is not a satisfactory solution to me. Firefox needs to make this user friendly.

If web pages needs to be adjusted then you can look at the Default FullZoom Level or NoSquint extension.

Use this extension to adjust the font size for the user interface:

  • Type about:config into the Firefox address bar and tap on the Enter key.
  • If the warning This might void your warranty appears, click I'll be careful, I promise.
  • Search for layout.css.devPixelsPerPx

Fx22layout.css.devPixelsPerPx

  • Double-click on layout.css.devPixelsPerPx to modify its value. The default is -1.0 in Firefox 22 and above. Change it to 1.0 to make it work like in previous Firefox versions.

If necessary, further adjust the value in 0.1 or 0.05 steps. Use values between 1.0 and about 0.5 to reduce elements in size. Use values greater than 1.0 to increase size. For example, a value of 1.25 will increase font size to 125% to accommodate the default DPI setting in Windows 8. Double check the value that you enter. Setting a too small value will make everything disappear and a too large value will blow things up.

Firefox should have put this in its help section. It's not very nice to leave users dangling like that.

Too complicated for the average user,,

Guess what? It looks like you have to be using Firefox to download it. Days like today make me wonder why computers.

> firefox 22 is now respecting the pixel density you've set on a system level in the windows

Let me guess: This update was done by someone who has their windows dpi set to the default.

FireFox now looks terrible on my computer:

1) I have to zoom all webpages down, because the font is too big

2) Images on webpages gets blurry and too big due to FF resizing them

3) Firefox icons become blurry (examples: Back/forward buttons, refresh button, add-ons buttons, even the plus sign to open a new tab is blurry, even the x to close tabs is blurry, and also the outline of the tabs becomes blurry)

The fix you suggested does not take care of the problem. If I set layout.css.devPixelsPerPx to 1.00, then the font used in firefox itself (menus, tabs etc) becomes much too small for my high res screen.

Maybe some techical aspects exist that makes it look to you like you now respect the user set dpi, but in reality you respected it a lot better before this update.

Hello, you should then pick values between 1.1 and 1.25, pick whats best for you.

You can set the layout.css.devPixelsPerPx pref on the about:config page to 1.0 (current default value is -1.0) to restore the behavior of previous Firefox versions.

You can make further adjustments and start with a value of 1.0 and adjust this value with 0.1 steps or 0.05 for finer adjustments to make icons on the toolbars look right.

  • Use values between 1.0 and about 0.5 to reduce elements in size (do NOT go all the way to 0.05!)
  • Use values greater than 1.0 to magnify and make elements larger (percentage divided by DPI, % / DPI).

If web pages needs to be adjusted after changing this pref then you can look at the Default FullZoom Level or NoSquint extension.

FF22 has killed Java completely, despite tools/addons insisting that it's enabled. I no longer can see any images in anything - not Gmail, not webpages... I've (repeatedly) attempted to fix this by reinstalling Gmail, Firefox, Java... Nothing has helped. WHY isn't there something in tools to allow rolling back to whatever version was in here BEFORE Mozilla did its unwarned update? I'd change browsers, but Norton won't allow me to install Chrome - apparently back in Feb 2012 there was some weird "reputation" problem. Hello? It's July 2013 now... Am I doomed to IE forever?
