Zonealarm causes this problem, if you have it uninstall it.

I am having the problem as well: specifically, the Copy function does not copy the selected text to the paste buffer; Cut seems to work for text that can be cut, and Paste does paste text that is in the buffer.

This problem started immediately after installing FF 22. Zone Alarm is not installed on my system and no other software changes were made at the time FF was upgraded.

Thank you, ideato. The bug report seems to be consistent with what I am observing.

Given that the nature of the problem and that it was reported in mid-June, how is it that FF 22 was released before it was resolved? Is hitting the target release date the only criteria, quality be damned?

You can try to toggle the Boolean pref dom.event.clipboardevents.enabled to false on the about:config page.

Hello jaeckert,

to be corrected surely wants some time, particularly when it does not seem to cause a problem for many users

Is hitting the target release date the only criteria, quality be damned?

No, i don't think so. see the fixed bug in firefox 22.0 !

thanks again

Well I've uninstalled FF22, thanks for the suggestion.

Chrome works perfectly with ZA and C&P.

definitely see :

The developers have created a fix for this problem for future versions of Firefox (Firefox 23+). Unfortunately, there's no immediate solution for Firefox 22. The current beta of Firefox 23 (as of July 13th) does not yet contain the fix. Probably the next one will have it.

thanks

Ditto here.

I had same problem on earlier version 22.x

24x just started doing it (right now)---even rebooted.

All things well, last night.

Rebooted CPU (ironically, didn't offer the "Restore" as it tends to offer as well when I don't "gracefully close" FF. (reboot, hypothesis services issue with Windows/Clip service allowing this)

        • EDIT****

As jaeckert mentions above. The "CUT" is working/just not paste. EX-even "CUT" from FF and "Pasted" into Chrome. Also tested Chrome Copy/Paste working find. ...............

Still not working in FF (works in chrome)--thus not native to the WINX nature of Service Functioning

The FF 22.x config hacks didn't help on last 22x doubt they'll help now

Chrome Copy/Paste working thus not the clip Services.msc issue.

Any other advice?

I think ... it's a problem with the MS Windows' file manager becoming unstable, when working with specific programs. When paste failed with my word processor, it worked with Windows Wordpad or Notepad.

I can't find a reference right now to confirm this, but isn't that the process that controls basic Windows copy-paste functions, and not the individual applications (e.g., Firefox) themselves?

This is what worked for me: While experiencing this problem and without stopping ZoneAlarm, Firefox or any other running programs, I just 'killed' and then restarted Windows' file manager process, explorer.exe.

When explorer came back up again, copy-paste worked immediately.

Note, if this is the cause, it was merely an 'instability' that compromised this one function. The MS Windows file manager on my Windows 7 installation does do a complete crash, seemingly at random and about once a week, or so, but this is different. This 'full crash' is obvious to the user, and as well, to MS Windows, which handles the 'kill' and 'restart' by itself.

As an aside, I never before observed instability or crashes of the Windows file manager process, in the NT versions before Vista -- while running either Firefox or ZoneAlarm, with the browser always running sandboxed, both before and now.

By the way, regarding the posts saying that this has been 'fixed', this occurred just yesterday, with Firefox v25.0.1.
