Crash ID: bp-9dc68df0-f096-454c-82c3-e32bf2130531

Every time I try to open Firefox, it immediately goes to the crash reporter which says "We're Sorry. Firefox had a problem and crashed. We'll try to restore your tabs and windows when it starts."

I've ran Anti Malwarebytes, Super Antispyware, Kapersky Security Scan, Microsoft Safety Scanner and Spybot and none of them seem to work. I have, also, tried completely uninstalling and reinstalling without success. I have included my Crash report for you to review. Please help me with this because I am completely out of ideas.

Perfect! I never actually had the Pretty May Recorder installed on my computer, but I did install a Call Recorder for Skype. It didn't work the way I thought it would so I uninstalled it. I couldn't remember which one it was so I installed every Skype recorder I could find including the Pretty May one. Then I performed a Complete uninstall of every single program using the Uninstaller that comes with Advanced SystemCare. I rebooted my computer and now it works!! Thanks for the help!!

P.S. I was able to find an immediate temporary fix yesterday by perusing another forum where one of the mods had a fix. He said that the issue had something to do with DEP.

Here is his discussion with another member:

Generally speaking when an app crash, or hangs occurs, a record is made in event viewer. (type eventvwr in search) go to the windows log>application tab.

You are looking for critical errors (they have red in the left hand column)

Look for app crash, app hang, or anything relating to the problem

When you find them write down the Event ID and source code and tell us what they are. I have a sneaking suspicion it will be event ID 1000 source 100.

Hey guys, I'm so glad I spotted this thread as I am having very similar problems to OP. Basically I just recently set up a new system and installed Windows 7 on it. This is where my first errors occured, getting a installation error on the first try of intalling Win7. I had a look through the web trying to troubleshoot this and got through the installation the second time around.

However, after having the computer for a week now it has been acting wierd all throughout with various errors and blue screens showing up every now and then.

I have been getting Blue Screens, Explorer, IExplorer, COM Surrogate and Windows Defender-has stopped working, even my sfc /scannow has been aborted due to error... This is my very first experience with this type of problem and I haven't really found anyone with a clue about this yet.

Until I read your reply, zigzag3143. I had a look at my eventviewer out of curiousity and it just so happens that it is full of Error Event ID 1000, Source code 100, with Source stated as Application and my Avira Antivir Personal antivirus software. It should be noted that prior to Avira I had Avast antivirus installed, so I don't suspect the usual antivirus issue.

So, zigzag3143, what exactly is this Event 1000, Source code 100 all about? It would be so nice for a change, to get this solved from the first post on the web, you know? Haha, anyway, fingers crossed that you can squash this for me.

Thanks.

My pleasure. I figured it was that but didnt want to jinx you. Ok Event ID 1000, source 100 is often caused by a built in virus protection app called DEP. Dep, or data execution prevention, prevent applications (read virus) from launching in "protected memory space. It is almost not necessary but thats another story.

Finding it. It is located in your system control panel>advanced system settings>Advanced>performance settings>DEP

Setting it--default is MS apps only (i think) what ever it is set to change it. If that doesn't cure the problem you can even turn it off. There is a turorial here on doing that. http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/12...ble.html?ltr=D

Let us know if it continues

===========================================================

LONG STORY SHORT...I just did what he said and followed that link to find out how to turn off my DEP for a quick fix so if anyone reads this and is having a problem, this may work for them, as well.

Your information help me with a permanent fix because I enabled DEP before I rebooted and now everything is back to normal

Thanks again!

Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a Clean reinstall. This means you remove Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:

Note: You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.

  1. Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org and save the setup file to your computer.
  2. After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (click Exit from the Firefox or File menu).
  3. Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
    • Windows:
      • C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
      • C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
    • Mac: Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
    • Linux: If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see Install Firefox on Linux. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder firefox in your home directory.
  4. Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
    1. Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
    2. Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.

Please report back to see if this helped you!

Hey jrome1228,

Have you tried starting Firefox in Safe Mode? Hold down "shift" while Firefox is starting up. If the crash doesn't happen in Safe Mode, you should read Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems.

There is also a lot of useful stuff in the Troubleshoot Firefox crashes (closing or quitting unexpectedly) Knowledge Base article.

Hopefully this helps!

Yes, Swarnava, I have tried to start in Safe Mode by holding down the Shift key, but the Crash Report still pops up.

TylerDowner, I've already done a Clean Reinstall, and that didn't work. Does that Crash Report tell you anything?

Hello,

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information. Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.

To Reset Firefox do the following:

  1. Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
  2. Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
  3. Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
  4. Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

Further information can be found in the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article.

Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!

Thank you.

No, I've tried all of that. I tried to 1) open in Safe Mode, 2) reset it, and 3) did a clean uninstall and reinstall 3 times after re-booting and I still see the same crash report every time I try to open Firefox.

Swarnava, the bp Crash ID is in my original post.

That is a problem with the audioses.dll file: Firefox 21.0 Crash Report [@ audioses.dll@0x2d36 ]

Looks that this file is part of Skype software (PrettyMay Call Recorder for Skype).

more options

Cor-el, can you tell me how to fix it?

Do you have the software that I mentioned above?

You can do a search for the audioses.dll file to see if you can identify this file.
Don't delete it, but uninstall the software it belongs to.
