I have recently read an article about a spyware pretending to be Firefox and developed by Gamma. I am wondering how I can determine if I have this spyware. I am too technologically illiterate to compare checksums. HELP!

As far as I am concerned you are on a real version. If you are uncertain, uninstall it completely, then go to getfirefox.com and get the latest version. You can also scan your computer.

You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.

Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.
