Whenever I go to open a page (the page has started loading, with the green spinning circle), Firefox stops responding for a second or two.

As the top states. The page still loads after Firefox starts responding again (normally has loaded entirely), but this becomes a major issue once I start loading multiple tabs.

Not much info provided but with this, I would try to make sure all my plug ins are updated aswell as your drivers.

I had a similar issue but it was a problem I was having with Shock wave Flash , make sure you don't have v11

Thanks. Looks like my Java wasn't quite up-to-date (and vulnerable), and I got rid of an addon I'd never used. Looks just about back to normal.
