I am using a dell laptop with windows 8 I have a wireless connection. Firefox stops responding, I can be on say, facebook and if I try doing something it won't do it, I can't click on a new tab to open i can't click home. My wireless gives me no indication that I have lost a signal or that it is weak. The only way to get the browser to respond is to close it and reopen it. It's not just on facebook it's on every site I go to that it does this so it's not a site problem. I get no error message unless I manage to open a tab and it says the connection has reset then tells me to check everything and I do and everything is fine.

Which security software (firewall, anti-virus) do you have?

Try to boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.

I am using AVG for security and Windows Firewall, I have allowed Firefox for my firewall.

I'll do what you suggest but I'm not quite sure what that will do.

got it into safemode finally, it seems to be working ok. I haven't tested it for long but it seems to work.

it seems google chrome is having the same kind of problem. So I'm not really sure what the problems is.

my router is in the next room I can see it from where I sit so I dont think its a signal problem like that.

If it works in Windows Safe mode then you likely have a problem with your security software that is blocking Firefox and possibly other browser.

Which security software (firewall, anti-virus) do you have?

You may need to ask advice at the support site of that software if you can't fix it via the setup of that software.

Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

I'm using AVG as my anti-virus and Windows Firewall for my firewall.

I'm not sure if I did this right. I went into my windows firewall, removed mozilla from the list, and clicked ok. then opened up firefox again, nothing popped up asking for persmissions.

I think I added mozilla to my avg as well. I dont know some of the articles are a bit confusing to me.
