I click on the desktop icon to launch Mozilla and I get an error message: Failed to read the configuration file. Please contact your system administrator.

I uninstalled Mozilla and reinstalled it and the same error happens. I have no idea what to do.

(The computer that you used to report this issue is using Firefox 5. You should update to Firefox 14 immediately as Firefox 5 has major security issues).

Have you tried to read Firefox won't start - find solutions ?

That looks like a problem with the mozilla.cfg file that set (default) pref values and can lock prefs.

The computer that has the older version on it, is the one I sent this question on that I don't use to often.

I don't know what happen, but it seems the Mozilla folder in C was corrupt. After trying to install Mozilla a few times with no luck, I uninstalled it and also had to delete the Mozilla folder from C. After that I reinstalled it and all is working fine now. Maybe a virus was placed in that folder or a file had gotten corrupt.
