Whenever I switch to a different tab it takes itself to the home page. I can return using the back button, but if I want to look up something (say, what plugins are installed to answer the question below) and I go back to the original tab it goes to Google and forgets all my typing. Great! Anyone?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
