okay, here is the problem: I am currently contacting you via google chrome because IE8 crashes on your site very often. IT does not happen anywhere else!!!

In the end I downloaded chrome just to alert you of the following:

I just installed xp pro on a new machine, this machine. Since I like firefox, I went onto your site to download it. However every time i get to the download page: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/ via ie8, it crashes, and I am totally fed up. so I went on my old computer and downloaded and transferred it to this computer yesterday. Today, firefox is completely disappeared on this computer, even the link in start menu that I had pinned next to ie8 link was changed to ie8. so, I don't want to install firefox as it will just "disappear" again.

I am alerting you to this problem and I hope you sue those "b******ds".

However what can I do ?

The most likely problem if apparent installs change is that your security or backup software is preventing changes to your System or resetting things. Check any security software settings. Also please note you will need at least XP Service pack 2

My XP system is not working at present so I can not test myself, however I do not really expect any conspiracy that causes IE to crash on downloading Firefox.

thank you. - I have got xp Sp3, all uptodate and it is on auto update, so there should not be anything outstanding.

I did find Firefox on my hard-drive, just now, but links to it are gone, so this ain't usual. Now, I installed chrome and had no problems to test the download of the Firefox-file. It worked completely fine where as in ie8 it crashes every time.

I would not call this conspiracy, just looking out for number one: MS. Conspiracy; hidden motives and all that rubbish.

So, I re-created the shortcut to Firefox and also have changed my default SE from IE8. We see what will happen next.

I wanted to bring this up, also to see if there are others with the same problem. If it is only on my computer, than clearly I have a problem with my recent installation. Already one person reported the same problem.
