I set my homepage up as www.rapidoffice.com as described in the firefox directory. However, when I restart my computer and open Firefox, http://www.searchnu.com/421 appears as my homepage. I am afraid this is a virus. Can you tell me what to do? I am running Windows 7 home addition.

Hi culpepper,

You should take a look at the Knowledge Base article How to set the home page. Your homepage might have been changed by a particular site. Sites like MSN, Yahoo, etc have been know to ask to become your homepage.

There are steps in that article to reset your homepage preferences to default. I would try that first to clear out any strangeness. If that works, you can try setting your homepage again to your personal preference.

If that doesn't work you should look at the article How to fix preferences that won't save.

We also have a troubleshooting section for home page issues that mentions that site as well. Finally, your issue may be because you've been hit with some Malware.

Hopefully this helps!

Larry, you can try any anti virus with anti spyware capabilities software. Try free available (SpybotSD) which is good for detecting browser hijacks. There are many solutions But as piece of advice don't fall for them better use good antivirus & anti spyware.
