On two separate Macs. 10.6.8 and 10.7.2. After recent upgrades I no longer see bookmark icons in my drop-down. I do see them in the "Show All Bookmarks" view.

You should take a look at this article that discusses some of the issues with the latest build of Firefox.

There is some information in there that should help you to resolve your issue. Luckily, it is a very easy fix.
