Profile is a folder which store all your personal data in a safe place

Hi,

All of the links above are very old. I have problem with restoring my saved password in Firefox 9. The profile is no longer located %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ In windows 7 the all of the setting of Firefox 9 are located inside (Drive:\\My Documents\FireFox Settings) folder. I have copied all of my old setting including bookmarks and cookies and they word perfectly.

However I have problem with saved passwords. I copied the files "signons.sqlite" and "key3.db" into (Drive:\\My Documents\FireFox Settings) folder but I don't have my password.

I tried to set a fresh "save password" and then replaced the files "signons.sqlite" and "key3.db" but no luck.

Please help. I don't like to use any utility to recover my password. I can't trust them. It should work with the file within my system.

Than you

(Drive:\\My Documents\FireFox Settings) is not the default location for a Firefox Profile folder, you must have moved your Firefox Profile there.

Mozilla has never spelled Firefox as FireFox.

You can use this button to go to the current Firefox profile folder:

  • Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Open Containing Folder

To restore the passwords you need to copy the files key3.db and signons.sqlite from the backup to that folder.

That should be working.

Are the other files in the profile folder recognized and work?

I don't understand "organized" but these are all the files resided in the "FireFox Setting" folder which I copied from my backup into the new settings folder. and They don't work.

could It be that my firefox was older and this one that I installed is very new and that causes the problem? when I installed the new version, it selected the default location for profile and I replaced all the files in that folder. But didn't work.

========

Uninstalled Firefox and installed version 6.x and after that 8.x it didn't work with saved password.

So problem is fundamentally somewhere else. I don't know what. I tried

Do you get the bookmarks and history from that backup?

Try to delete all files in the profile folder another time and let Firefox initialize the profile and only copy the files that you really need to that folder one at a time (for the passwords you need both files) to see if each file works.

Yes I get all my bookmarks. But the passwords are not showing up. Please someone help!
