My school insists I run Mozilla 3.6 -how do I get it back?

Posted

I can't access the internet via Firefox, which automatically updates itself on my computer. K12, the online school I work for, says it is not "compatible" with Firefox versions above 3.6. Why can't I keep 3.6, since the grading tools I need are the easiest to work with?

How can I get 3.6 back on my computer?

Chosen solution

Swarnava, the current Firefox 3.6.* release can be found at http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all-older.html

Which is easy to find by way of www.mozilla.com -> Systems & Languages -> Firefox 3.6.24

Also not everybody uses the en-US local ;)

Like Ed, I do suggest to use the Firefox Portable version of Firefox 3.6.24 instead for this one case as it will not impact the regular Firefox install whether it is on hard disk or on usb flash drive.

Installed Plug-ins

I don't know - Java - Adobe Flash Player - I'm not a computer nerd. I'm just an online German teacher who wants to get her grading done before school starts on Monday!

Application

  • User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.0; WOW64) AppleWebKit/535.2 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/15.0.874.121 Safari/535.2

More Information

Everytime I'd try to get online with Firefox, I'd be encouraged to upgrade. I would decline and would work away with your wonderful grading tools. Now, I just get "Page not available." And I have to use Google Chrome.

You're better off using Firefox Portable 3.6.24 for that one website and keep Firefox 8.0 for elsewhere. The Portable version won't mess with the original Firefox installation.
