Once opening & closing firefox if I try to open it again I get a message saying firefox is running in background, you need to exit and start again.fore

I ran firefox, then opened Microsft Outlook and checked my emails. When I tried to open an email link I got message Cannot .... Fx is running in background, you must start again - or words to that effect. This has only recentl started to happen.
