after downloading and installing latest version the hyperlinks in my webmail or on sites won't open, it says "firefox can't open"

Websites I normally use and go to such as to pay my bills, will not open in a hyperlink on an email but I can go to them if I open a new tab and go to main site. just have to open new tab and go to main site home page then search, this took over an hour yesterday then I had to use phone
