I have downloaded new copies, deleted everything including install directory, run three different av programs and eliminated anything found. the only other copy of this file in my computer is in the thunderbird directory. Any other suggestions? FF 5 was running ok until I tried the upgrade. Now I can't install any version.

Solved problem. ran a registry cleaner, ran chkdsk and defrag on partition that now has the program installed on it, and on the partition that contains the "'temp" directory. also cleaned out the latter.
