Why do you need to change. It is hard for older people to learn new arrangements. Is this change really necessary?

Computers and internet are constantly updating. Why? Is there really a good reason to change? May I choose NOT to change? I have learned so many new systems..386..windows 95, xp, and now 2010..windows and word. Now a new page for this and a new system for that. It is annoying and I am not entertained by 'New" stuff. What about "classic" choices? I am getting older and change becomes more difficult.
