Firefox freezes randomly, often when I try to open a bookmark or view the contents of a bookmark folder from the bookmark field. firefox.exe goes up to 25% CPU usage (I have four cores, so it's basically 100% on one core, but it's spreading out the load).
In the beginning it just froze for a while after I downloaded some files with the download manager, but now it freezes more often, and most often it doesn't unfreeze again so I have to force-close it.

It seems like Firefox always "hangs" when I click the Firefox button and try to view my history or bookmarks from there. I don't think the database has grown too large, though, because all my other Firefox-synced computers can handle it.
did you check the suggestions mentioned in the article i posted in my previous post ??
Yes, but I don't feel that a solution for me is to clear my history or bookmarks. As I mentioned, it works like a charm on my other synced Firefox-installations on my other computers, and this computer is freshly new-installed and hasn't got bad hardware specifications or anything.

Check these articles and tell if its working.
This is how my problem began on my Vista system (for details, see: https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/852169). Then it started hanging when I tried to open PDFs. Then when I clicked on oh, just about anything. None of the known fixes that applied to the issues I was having caused them to cease. Eventually, Firefox just refuses to open at all...am still wondering what the heck happened???
