I prefer Firefox to Safari on my MacBook and was having problems with videos not playing on HuffPost. Checked for updates on Firefox and found 4.0 which I downloaded but can't complete the download because of "insufficient privileges". Not sure what this means. OS X 10.5.8 on my laptop now.

If you get an error message that you do not have sufficient permissions or if you have problems with updating then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.

Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the DMG file to the desktop

  • Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install
  • Install the new version that you have downloaded
