I have entered different settings for my home page, opening window etc but each time Firefox opens it's stuck on the same problem and asks if it should Restore or Start New Session, never starting up with my new options.

thx for any info

Chosen solution

You shouldn't delete files in the Firefox application folder.
You will have to download and reinstall Firefox if you can't restore that file from the Trash.

Didn't you use the "Help > Troubleshooting Information" page to get access to the Firefox profile folder?

It is possible that there is a problem with the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Profile Folder

Delete sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Profile Folder

  • Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Open Containing Folder

If you see files sessionstore-##.js with a number in the left part of the name like sessionstore-1.js then delete those as well.

Well, I thought this would be a simple file deletion problem but I could not locate that specific file, or even the Profile Folder! I did find a file nsSessionStore.js, (~/Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/components/nsSessionStore.js) which I deleted and now Firefox does not ask me to Restore or Start a new Session, but it still will not remember my tabs, preferences or allow me to change my home page location..

A small thing but it does bug me Thanks again for the help.

Not sure why sessionstore.js did not show up when I searched for it at first but going to the "Help > Troubleshooting Information" page to get access to the Firefox profile folder worked a treat.

You learn something new every day

Thanks!
