Firefox opens for about five seconds, then crashes. No Firefox errror message. Windows says "Firefox has stopped working." Firefox won't open in Safe Mode.
I am running Windows Home Vista. Just after Firefox downloaded its latest version (4?) on April 2, I started having this problem. The home window opens, then goes kind of milky and hazy, then Windows reports "Firefox has stopped working." I tried opening Firefox in the safe mode by holding down the Shift key, but got the same result.

Trying start Firefox in Safe Mode as outlined in this article , specifically using the Run option.
Since I can't open Firefox, I don't have access to the buttons and menus that I need in order to open in Safe Mode.
Note: You can also start Firefox in Safe Mode by holding down the shift key while starting Firefox.
If you'll notice, in my original message I stated that I had been unable to open Firefox using the Shift key method.
See if any of these solutions work, http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Firefox%20crashes%20when%20you%20open%20it?s=crash&as=s#w_firefox-does-not-start-in-safe-mode
I'm beginning to think I'm screwed. I used the link you sent me to go to the firefox-does-not-start-in-safe-mode page and none of the suggestions there seem to apply to my problem. I'm not using an older version of Google Desktop. I'm not getting any Mozilla crash reports. As a matter of fact, that page crashed while I was trying to read it.
How do I remove Firefox from my computer?
Uninstall through your Windows Control Panel
