All of a sudden about a week ago, everytime I open Mozilla, 10 toolbars open up. I've used 4 of them and it used to open with just the 4. Now I have to delete 6 of them every time I open. How to delete just those? Checked Help and only got questions, no answers. Being not too computer lit, I'd need step by step instructions. Please help! Driving me nuts!!

Also, Mozilla asks to "Remember log in" and even though I check to remember, it doesn't and continues to ask for every site I've already said to remember. Another irritating process.

1. I appears that you are using an older version of Firefox that is no longer supported. It looks like you have 3.0.13, where 3.6.13 is the latest release.

2. If you don't use those toolbars, why not uninstall the extensions that contain those toolbars? If they're gone you won't have to hide them.

3. It is possible that not every one of those toolbars is totally compatible with that older version of Firefox you aren't using. For example, GTB7.1 was released about the time Firefox 3.6 was released, and with the number of problems it has created for Firefox 3/6 users, I can only imagine how problematic it could be with an older version of Firefox.

4. Could be a slightly corrupt file that stores toolbar customization prefs, like whether a toolbar appears or is hidden.

Did you try to update Norton or contact them if your current Norton version doesn't support Firefox 3.5 and 3.6 versions?

Going back and staying at such an old Firefox version with known security vulnerabilities because Norton doesn't work is not a good idea.

  • Websites remembering you and automatically log you in is stored in a cookie.
  • You need an allow cookie exception (Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: Exceptions) to keep that cookie, especially for secure websites and if you let cookies expire when Firefox closes
  • Make sure that you do not use Delete browsing, search and download history on Firefox to clear the "Cookies" and the "Site Preferences"

Clearing "Site Preferences" clears all cookies, images, pop-up windows, software installation, and password exceptions.
