how do I compile collect2.cpp with the -fPIC parameter so I can complete my Firefox 3.6.8 compilation?

I am compiling Firefox 3.6.8 on Centos 5.4 and the module "collect2.cpp" must be compiled with the -fPIC option. How can I do that? Where do I specify "-fPIC" ?
