How do I install Addons for all users?

I want to add an addon to the firefox installation. Even if a new profile is created, the addon must be included in it. I use firefox 3.6 in ArchLinux.

http://www.ghacks.net/2007/11/12/install-firefox-add-ons-for-all-users/ may still work. I'm curious if add-on's will still stay up to date.
